Narrative
He was a dairy farmer, and a faithful worker in the Lutheran Chuch of Ghent, New York. He gave the land and took an active part in the erection of the New Lutheran Church there. He served on the Church Council for 50 years, being deacon emeritus at the time of his death. On Christmas Eve December 24, 1884, he married Sarah Amelia Hiscox, born August 31, 1858. They had three children. Sarah died September 8, 1934, and John, July, 1935, both at Chatam, New York.
